The New Business is a digital marketing agency based in Toronto and Montreal. We specialize in building a stunning digital presence for the North American tourism industry. We’ve been around since 2012.
We craft award-winning websites, brands, and strategies, and we are also a major contributor to Whereabouts, an innovative CRM built for Destination Management Organizations.
You’ll be joining the company at an exciting time. We’re looking for an opinionated, product-minded developer who enjoys seeing apps and websites from a real user’s perspective and is excited to work remotely with a collaborative, creative team. The tourism space presents fascinating UX, performance, and content-delivery challenges — and you’ll play a key role in solving them. Above any specific technical skills, we value respect, empathy, open-mindedness, and strong collaboration within a distributed team.
About the Role
There’s never a dull day at The New Business. Our development projects are fast-paced, varied, and closely integrated with design, strategy, and product thinking.
You’ll be joining a tight-knit development team that works closely with experienced designers. Attention to detail is essential, as is a willingness to problem-solve collaboratively and iterate thoughtfully on design and UX decisions.
In this role, you’ll take ownership of our Next.js tourism website builds and technical support. You’ll contribute to building new sites using our mature Payload CMS–based stack, while also maintaining and improving existing sites. You’ll receive support tickets through HelpScout and interact directly with thoughtful, appreciative clients. Support requests are never excessive; most of your time will be spent building new sites and improving our tourism-optimized stack and workflow.
We also steward a small number of well-designed and mature Drupal websites. Experience with Drupal is a major asset, but not required, and we no longer take on new Drupal projects. If you’re primarily a modern React / Next.js developer and are open to maintaining a legacy system and have a high comfort level with unfamiliar code, we’d love to hear from you. Because our tourism websites (including our Drupal sites) are closely integrated with our Whereabouts SaaS platform, you’ll also have opportunities to contribute to product improvements and features over time.
